Happenings

LACC continues to advance learning through its varied outreach program. Last week, nearly 70 post-secondary faculty and administrators from across the US gathered for the Global Studies Symposium on National Resource Center (NRC), Community College (CC), and Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Collaboration to Internationalize Education. Co-chaired by LACC’s Liesl Picard and Vanderbilt University’s Avery Dickins de Giron, the Title VI-supported Global Studies Symposium is co-presented every two years and highlights the transformational work being done by MSIs and CCs across the US.

LACC also continues its long-standing partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools through co-sponsorship of multiple annual teacher training workshops and institutes annually, including the February 3, 2024 workshop on Teaching Portuguese at the K-16 Level: Approaches and Methodologies for the 21st Century.

As an opportunity for learning and dialogue among local universities, LACC is also proudly hosting this year’s 22nd Annual Tri-University Graduate Student Conference on March 22. The conference, which rotates across FIU, FAU and UM, provides grad students with a professional forum to present their academic work and engage in peer-to-peer evaluation and critique. Stay in touch for the upcoming Call for Papers!
