The Green Family Foundation are FIU’s #4 Transformational Donors. Since their first gift in 1981, these dynamic donors have strived to create a more just, peaceful, and prosperous world for our FIU students, faculty and the South Florida community.

Ambassador Steven J. Green

Former United States Ambassador to Singapore under the Clinton Administration, former Chairman and CEO of the Samsonite Corporation and Founder and Managing Director of Greenstreet Partners Real Estate Investment firm. Ambassador Green is the named benefactor of FIU’s Steven. J. Green School of International and Public Affairs and the Green School Complex dedicated in 2024.  Ambassador and Mrs. Green are also the named benefactors of FIU’s Green Library and the Green Family Foundation Neighborhood HELP program at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

Mrs. Dorothea Green

Former Miss New York for the Miss Universe contest 1964, author, and longtime patron and advocate of the arts. Mrs. Green is the founder of the Steven and Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series at the FIU Frost Art Museum, the named benefactor of the Dorothea Green Theater at the Adrienne Arsht Center and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Perez Art Museum Miami. 

Dr. Kimberly Green

President of the Green Family Foundation where she has served since 1998. Dr. Green is an accomplished philanthropist, writer and twice Grammy nominated documentary-filmmaker. She is the named benefactor of FIU’s Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center at the Steven. J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. Kimberly also established the Digital Library of the Caribbean Program at the FIU Green Library. In 2020, Kimberly along with Michelangelo Bendandi co-founded Green Space Miami – an art and cultural collective in the MIMO District showcasing emerging Miami artists.
