Journal Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies (LACES)
Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies (LACES) is a multi- and inter-disciplinary journal for quality peer-reviewed scholarly research on ethnicity, race relations, and indigenous peoples in any country or countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The journal is open to publish case studies, comparative analyses and theoretical contributions with innovative and critical perspectives on the workings of race and ethnicity in the region's "settler societies". In the current context of renewed interest for the examination of the many forms of ethnoracially-based inequalities throughout the region, there has been a rapid expansion of a considerable corpus of work on the social, political, and cultural implications of ethnicity, race, racialization, and racism. The aim of the Journal is to play a constructive role in the consolidation of this still growing field of studies, and in the configuration of its contours as an intellectual enterprise. Manuscript submissions can come from authors based anywhere in the world, who identify with one or more relevant disciplines in the Social Sciences and the Humanities.
From 2006 through August of 2021, the journal was headquartered at the Center for Iberian & Latin American Studies (CILAS) of the University of California, San Diego, under the founding chief-editorship of Professor Leon Zamosc. Since September 1, 2021, the journal is now housed at the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC) of Florida International University (FIU), in Miami, Florida. At FIU, LACES is institutionally supported by the following units:
The Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC)
The Department of Global & Sociocultural Studies (GSS)
The Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA)
LACES is published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis.
