LACC/MIFF K-12 Outreach Screening: High Rise

Private screening for Miami Dade County public school teachers and students features 2009 Brazilian documentary that examines what it means to live luxuriously in poverty-plagued Brazil. Through dialogues with penthouse owners in Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Sao Paulo, the film explores the sociocultural mindset of the elite and the phenomenon of the “verticalization” of the Brazilian cityscape. Screening followed by Q&A with film directors and curricular session that provides resources for integrating the film and its themes into the classroom. Co-sponsored by LACC, Miami International Film Festival and Miami Dade County Public Schools.
