FIU's Gordon Institute sponsors a Foreign Language and Cultural Studies Study Abroad Scholarship to Brazil. The program offers up to $5,000 in scholarship funds for students to participate in the study abroad program to Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens, enrolled in the Program in National Security Studies, and a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
Scholarship recipients will enroll in six credit hours of intensive Portuguese language classes. Once in Brazil, students will attend a set of program lectures on Brazilian National Security and participate in a site visit to Rio de Janeiro, where they will be briefed about U.S. and Brazilian bilateral relations by officials from the U.S. Consulate and Brazilian Army War College.
