Call for proposals! South Florida Latin American and Caribbean Studies Graduate Student Conference

Proposals are currently being accepted for the 8th Annual South Florida Latin American and Caribbean Studies Conference, sponsored by FIU's Latin American and Carribbean Center and Maloka Graduate Student Organization (with funding from FIU CSO) along with the centers for Latin American studies at Florida Atlantic University and University of Miami.

The conference, entitled "Independence, Revolution & Social Change", will be held April 23, 2010 at University of Miami.

Top Papers Will Be Published In Florida Atlantic Comparative Studies Journal (FACS) and the top three papers will receive cash awards.

Students are requested to submit abstracts (300 words or less) for papers relevant to the Latin America or the Caribbean region by February 19, 2010.

Submissions are open to a wide range of disciplines and may be submitted in: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch and Haitian Creole.

Students will be notified of their selection and selected final papers, approximately 15-25 double spaced pages, will be due on March 23, 2010. Conference participants will give a 10- minute presentation.
