Green Treasures: Haitian Creole

Part of The Fairchild Challenge, Green Treasures is a multidisciplinary competitive environmental education program that fosters interest in the environment, develops critical thinking skills, promotes conservation, and stimulates civic engagement while leveraging Miami's strategic position related to Latin America and the Caribbean and encouraging transference of knowledge from generation to generation. Program provides a forum for middle school students to learn more about ethnobotany of the region through interviews with Haitian-Creole or Spanish-speaking senior citizens and discussions about the significance of plants in different cultures throughout the hemisphere.
