Centers & Institutes
The Latin American and Caribbean Center’s research, educational programs and publications draw on the impressive resources of its eight affiliated centers and institutes. Under the umbrella of LACC, these centers and institutes contribute to scholarship on the region and host conferences, lectures series and cultural events. Each center has a unique mission, which together form the foundation of LACC’s expertise in different areas of Latin American and Caribbean studies.
- The Cuban Research Institute generates and disseminates research about Cuba and Cuban American issues.
- The Summit of the Americas Center provides independent analysis of issues relating to the hemispheric integration process, including the impact of free trade on Florida.
- The Intercultural Dance and Music Institute fosters preservation of the culture, dance and music of the region.
- The Institute for International Professional Services studies the role of the services sector in the Florida economy.
- The Institute for Sustainability Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean studies the interaction between nature and society in this part of the world.
- The Colombian Studies Institute conducts research on the civil conflict in Colombia and the growth of the Colombian diaspora community in Florida.
