Haitian Summer Institute

LACC's Haitian Summer Institute is designed for anyone interested in acquiring basic conversational proficiency in Haitian Creole and an understanding of Haitian culture. The six-week program is divided into two parts: Accelerated Beginning Haitian Creole is taught for the first three weeks, and Accelerated Intermediate Haitian Creole is taught in the final three weeks. Classes generally run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The institute is held at Florida International University's University Park Campus and takes advantage of FIU's location in Miami, home to a vibrant Haitian community.

Credits: 6 credits (undergraduate)
Courses: HAI 3213 Accelerated Beginning Haitian Creole
HAI 3214 Accelerated Intermediate Haitian Creole
Housing: Housing is available at the University Park Campus or students may arrange off-campus housing.
